Researchers at Ben-Gurion University put a fish tank on a wheeled platform and mounted a camera above it. When a goldfish swam toward one wall, software steered the platform in that direction. Six fish learned to guide the contraption toward a visible target from different starting points, correct wrong turns, and avoid dead ends. They were not piloting road cars; the experiment asked whether navigation skills learned in water could transfer to a very different space. The answer was a tiny, rolling yes.
