The Same Dinner, Every Night, For Ten Years

Every evening, Wilf Davies sits down to two pieces of fish, one large onion, an egg, baked beans, and a few biscuits for dessert. He has eaten this exact meal every single night for more than ten years — no exceptions for Easter, birthdays, or Christmas. "Being a farmer means every day is the same," he told The Guardian. Davies is 72 and has spent his whole life in the Teifi Valley in west Wales, tending 71 sheep on the farm where he was born. He has left Wales exactly once. His devotion to sameness became so quietly remarkable that a documentary about it was chosen from more than 7,000 submissions to premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival. Davies doesn't find any of it strange. It's just dinner.
